Letter 1:
1) After reading the first letter, Robert Walton talks about how he wants to discover a route to the arctic where it is currently difficult or time consuming to get to this place.
2) In the career that Walton failed is when he was a poet.
3) What Walton has been doing to prepare for his arctic exploration is to forget about those comforts and deprive himself of basic needs such as food, sleep, water, among others. However, he was also encouraged to go on whaler trips and other explorations.
4) Walton plans to rent a boat.

5) Walton thinks that he did not have a very good education. However, he excelled in the language or writing part.
6) To relate his marine life, he says that the library of his uncle Thomas demonstrates his attachment and enthusiasm for the dangers and mysteries of the ocean.

7) Walton says that when you are in danger you will be calm or collected, be positive and persevere.

Letter 1.
